About Us
Ecclesia Ministries of Newburgh is a not-for-profit religious corporation formed in support of the ministry of the Rev. Steve Ruelke who was ordained and called by the United Church of Christ to do worship, outreach, and advocacy among homeless and otherwise marginalized women and men in the City of Newburgh, New York.
Ecclesia means “called out by God.”
We believe that each one of us is called out, called into communion with our Creator and with one another, to live the gospel and to realize God's dream of freedom and creativity, kindness and justice, generosity and peace, diversity and harmony in the here and now.
So, we worship together on the street sharing the joy of God’s love with anyone and everyone, no matter who they are, no matter where they are on life’s journey. We reach out to others in friendship knowing that their struggles are our struggles. And, we advocate with them and for them so that we all might become more fully alive.
Our long-term goals include the development of a homeless shelter for women, men, and families, supportive transitional housing, health care outreach, educational opportunities, and employment training.
We hope you will join us for our 1 p.m. Sunday worship at 9 Johnston Street, Newburgh, New York. Bring a friend.
